Plantation drive begins at Akhnoor | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 5: Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma has appealed the people to adopt plantation to contribute towards protecting the environment and making it green and pollution free and NGOs should take a lead in this regard. The Minister said this after inaugurated cleanliness and plantation drive organised by Sant Nirankari Sewa Dal at Chandian Panjthirthi Ghat, Akhnoor. The Minister appreciated the efforts of the Sant Nirankari Sewa Dal for organizing such drives in various parts of the state for protecting of the environment and making it more greener and cleaner. Mr Sharma said that this organization is also doing yeoman job by conducting blood donation camps in various parts of the state. He stressed to constitute ward wise committees to educate and aware the people about the importance of plantation and cleanliness. He said that citizens should join hands in the drive to save our environment and plant maximum number of trees. The Minister asked the Sant Nirankari Sewa Dal to organize such drives at Leh, Ladakh and other far-off areas for the benefit of the people and asked them to continue such drives for which he assured all possible support from Horticulture and Floriculture, Social Forestry and other concerned departments.
