Performance of labour & employment dept reviewed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 5: Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Policy for Youth (SKEWPY) is a vital step towards providing employment opportunities to the youth and has received a great response in terms of registrations by the youth in this programme to explore employability avenues . This was stated by the minister of State for power ,Transport , CA&PD, Labour &Employment today chaired a meeting to review the achievements of the Labour department Khan said that the Center and State Government have started various schemes for the unemployed youth and asked them to avail the benefits of self employment schemes for setting up their income generating units The Minister asked the officers to expedite the work of the counseling centers and said that employment fares have received good response and maximum number of youth have been registered in these fares organized in various districts . Taking a review of the Labour Department, the Minister was informed that under the Workmen Compensation Act 1883 cases have been disposed off and an amount of Rs 333.03 lacs have been disbursed among the disabled /dependents. Similarly cases have been disposed off under the permanent Wages Act and various other important labour acts Khan exhorted the officers to ensure proper implementation of the labour laws and asked the officers to make frequent visits to the various industrial units and keep a check of the working conditions and other labour related issues so that interests of these labourers are guarded He also asked for complete enactment of the Child Labour (P&R) Act and asked for taking strict action against the violators Among others the meeting was attended by Labour Commissioner, Divisional Labour Commissioner Jammu, Director Employment and other senior officer of Labour and Employment Departments of Jammu division were.
