People should cooperate in supplying essentials, says Akhoon | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Aug 5: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon has appealed to the people, particularly Mohalla Committees, Masjid Committees and religious leaders to cooperate with the staff of CA&PD in ensuring supply of food grains and essential commodities to the people through the government sale outlets. Addressing media persons here today, Akhoon said that the government is fully geared to provide adequate supply of food grains and essentials to the consumers adding that buffer stocks of food-grains are available in the godowns. He said, “We need the cooperation of the public to enable field functionaries of CA&PD to run their sale outlets and transport food grains up to sale outlets”. He directed the field officers to maintain allocation of 50 kg (40 kg rice and 10 kg atta) per ration card, adding that scale fixed for sugar and kerosene oil should also be maintained. He said the government was ready to run its sale outlets even in odd hours, if and wherever need be. He also asked the field officers to work with dedication and social commitment to come up to the expectations of the people during the testing time. He also asked the LPG distributors for ensuring availability of sufficient supply of gas to the consumers of the valley. He said that Chief Minister has kept a revolving fund of Rs one crore at the disposal of CA&PD for procuring baby food to be supplied through CA&PD outlets.
