Chib to assess availability of medical facilities to people

Srinagar, Aug 5: At a high level meeting of officers the Minister for Medical Education, Youth Service & Sports, R. S. Chib, today took stock of the availability of life saving drugs and allied medicinal facilities provided to the patients in the Government Medical College and associated hospitals in Srinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Chib directed the concerned for ensuring round-the-clock availability of medicos and para-medicos in the hospitals. He asked the concerned for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in and around the hospitals. He asked for providing free food to patients and their attendants. He also called for out sourcing of hospital laundry for washing bed sheets, adding that the Government is mulling to introduce disposable bed sheet covers, pillow covers, hospitals aprons and allied items being used in the operation theatres.
The Minister instructed the security personnel to entertain identity cards of medical fraternity as curfew passes. He also directed the Municipal authorities for lifting the garbage from the hospital premises regularly ensuring its proper scientific disposal.
The Minister expressed his gratitude to Awquaf and Red Cross Society for extending cooperation in respect of providing ambulances and medicines.
The meeting was informed that sufficient stocks of life saving drugs were available in the hospitals adding that concerned medical agencies have been asked to provide additional quota of medicines for Kashmir Valley to meet any exigency.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Medical Education, R. K. Jerath, Secretary, J&K Red Cross Society, Feroz, Director Health Services, Kashmir,. Dr. Mohammad Amin, Principal, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Dr. Shahida Mir, besides Medical Superintendents of Associated hospitals and representatives of International Committee on Red Cross.
