'Ultras planning to target ID functions'

RAJOURI, Aug 5: Independence day celebrations in Rajouri might be on the radar of militants with security forces and police continuously busting huge arms and ammunitions.
For the last five days, police and army in Rajouri district have disappointed militants by busting third hideout in the district in Rajdhani area of Rajouri on Thursday.
Police sources told here that militants might have planned to target Independence day functions In Rajouri district to make their presence feel in the area.
Sources said that militants are being continuously defeated in the area by a bond of security agencies and police and they have become discouraged in all corners of the district.
"This discouragement is not being tolerated by the militants and they might carry out some attacks to show their presence in the area", police sources said, adding, forces and police have also intensified vigil to continue discouraging the militants.
Sources said that police and troops of 156 territorial army today seized 284 number of Pika gun rounds , two RBG bombs , 370 AK 47 rounds, 6 AK 47 magazines, 16 UGBL grenades, 5 hand grenades, 5 detonators, one tape recorder, and one IED Switch from a hideout in Rajdhani area of tehsil Thanamandi in Rajouri districts.
"We have recovered large quantity of arms and ammunitions from this hideout", Superintendent of Police Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Choudhary said, adding that they had earlier received information about a hideout in the area following which police and troops of TA launched operation.
Police has also admitted that militants might be planning to carry out attacks before Independence day but they have intensified vigil . "We are here to tackle militants", police said.
Meanwhile, sources said that recovery of Anti-Tank bombs from this hideout has alarmed red signal and speaking itself that militants are planting something big.
It is also presumed that militants have get directions to store weapons for future use in the area. As army and SoG on August 1, had busted a hideout in Nowshera area and recovered 40 KG RDX besides 455 rounds of AK-47, Chinese Pistol and 60 rounds of the Pistol following which they had intensified its search operations in the area. They had also found one kilogram heroine from the hideout which was tagged ISI on the cover.
Following this recovery police, army and Centre Reserve Police Forces on August 2 busted a militant hideout in Khadrian forest of Kalakote and recovered 405 AK 47 rounds, 134 Pistol Rounds, 19 Improvised Explosive Device (IED), 60 IED fuse, rain coat, 3 pencil cells , a booster and 41 UGBL.
In the last five days, Rajdhani hideout was third one and forces are recovering heavy arms and ammunitions from these hideouts.
Though these recoveries have dejected militants following their huge loss, forces and police have started investigations about the plans of the militants. "We have started investigation about the continuous recoveries being made from the hideouts", a senior police officer said.
