PTA holds meet, discusses problems | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 6: Under the aegis of Provincial Teachers Association, a largely attended meeting of teachers of Bhadarwah tehsil was held in which various problems being faced by them community were discussed. The meeting was presided over by Omkar Bhagat, President, Teachers Association, Bhadarwah. The speakers criticised the anti-teacher attitude of state government and alleged that government was not paying any attention towards problems of teachers. They demanded leave encashment benefit to the teachers like other state govt. employees. They also demanded implementation of sixth pay commission in toto besides early release of arrears and DA instalment. The speakers urged upon the government to increase medical allowance to Rs 1000 per month and age old items in schools be written off. They further demanded strict adherence to transfer norms and urged that transfers be not made round the year and provision of subject teachers in the schools so that students do not suffer. Addressing the meeting, Abdul Hafeez Fani, Member, State Committee of All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation assured whole hearted support and cooperation of Federation towards teachers . Fani urged upon the govt. to solve all the demands'of teachers without any further delay. He called upon the teachers to remain united and accelerate their struggle waged under the banner of Federation headed by Abdul Majid Khan. Omkar Bhagat in his address appealed the teachers to remain united and continue their struggle for achievement of long and outstanding demands of teachers.
