| Jammu Alag Rajya Mandal floated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 6:
A new organization by the name Jammu Alag Rajya Mandal has been formed by some youth to fight for the achievement of separate state of Jammu.
Sudesh Kumar Verma was unanimously elected as its President, Atul Sapolia Senior Vice President, Vivek Kumar Sharma General Secretary and Surinder Sudan as organizing Secretary.
In a press release issued here today the President and other office bearers of the Mandal have said that no solution of Kashmir problem can be had by tackling the same for whole of Jammu & Kashmir.
The people of Jammu region and those of Kashmir valley have divergent aspirations and political agenda. There is nothing common between the two. While most of the Kashmiris want Aazadi from India or a loose integration with the rest of the country, majority of Jammu people stand for full integration of J&K to the rest of the country. By creating separate states of Jammu & Kashmir separate solutions for these two regions can be evolved.
The press release further stated that Kashmiris cite Amritsar treaty of 1846, under which they allege, Kashmir was sold to the Dogra ruler Maharaja Ghulab Singh, Jammu has no such problem and no such angularities. They are proud of their heritage in Dogra rulers.
Jammu Alag Rajya Mandal which will set up its branches all over the region will adopt all legitimate means to achieve the objective of separate state of Jammu, the release added.
