Leh students spent sleepless night in Jammu | | | early times report Jammu, August 6 : In the absence of communication facilities, large number of Ladakhi students studying in Jammu on Friday spent sleepless night to track down the whereabouts of their families and close relatives and others. The students, who were gathered here in the university campus, also appealed to the state and the central governments to rush relief material to the victims of flash floods in Leh. Under the banner of All Ladakh students association, the students appealed to the state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take stock of the situation and reach out to the needy. The students appreciated the role of the security forces for carrying out relief and rescue measures . Trying their level best to get connected with their families in Leh, the majority of students failed in their efforts to talk directly to them. "We are very worried, we are not getting any information about the whereabouts of our families", said the anxious students. Meanwhile, the BSNL authorities are working overtime to restore the communication lines at the earliest as the telephone exchange in Leh suffered huge damages on account of flash floods. The leader of the All Ladakh students association said, ``we are eager to know about the well being of our families and others struck in the flash floods and urge the state govt to open a help line where we can seek information about the well being of our parents and close relatives’’.
