CAPD Asst Dir, TSO office raided, records seized | | | SUMIT SHARMA EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 6: Consumer Affair and Public Distribution (CAPD) department ration scam meant for general public under Below Poverty Line again surfaced in Udhampur district when Crime Branch sleuths conducted a series of raids in the offices of Assistant Director CAPD and Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Udhampur. The raids were conducted following complaint lodged with Crime Branch Jammu. The Crime Branch sleuths raided the CAPD offices this morning and seized records for scrutiny. As per sources, initially a complaint of embezzlement in CAPD ration was lodged with Udhampur police last year under FIR No 277/2009. While the inquiry of case was in progress the same was transferred to Crime Branch Jammu for further investigation on the direction of Police Headquarters (PHQ). As per PHQ order all the cases pertaining to the government ration scam are to be shifted and investigated by Crime Branch. Giving information sources said that the report lodged with the Crime Branch Jammu alleged that ration under public distribution system meant for Below Poverty Line (BPL) people was sold in open market with the active nexus of CAPD officers and dealers. As per sources during initial scrutiny of the records Crime Branch sleuths found embezzlement in the BPL ration comprising 115 bags of wheat and 22 bags of rice so far. However, the number is expected to be increased with thorough scrutiny of the records, sources informed. Sources further said that Crime Branch has also figure out some dealers and CAPD higher officers to bust their alleged nexus. |
