| Frontal organisations are backbone of Congress: Soz | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 7: Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Prof Saif-ud-din Soz has described all frontal organisations of Congress including Youth Congress and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) as the backbone of party.
He called upon these wings to work in tandem with the parent party to carry forward the policies and programmes of the party.
PCC Chief Prof Saif-ud-din Soz was speaking at a function organised to welcome the appointment of Shoaib Lone as Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) president.
Prof Soz congratulated Lone on his selection as PYC Chief and extended full support and cooperation of the parent body to strengthen youth wing in the state. He asked the young and senior leaders of the party to give full support and co-operation to him to strengthen the youth congress in every nook and corner of the state.
Shoaib Lone in his address thanked gathering for his rousing reception. He expressed gratitude to PCC Chief and the senior leaders who have encouraged him today by their presence and reception at the PCC office.
Lone expressed gratitude to AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi for giving him the chance to serve the youth of state and Congress party.
He referred to his meeting with Rahul Gandhi yesterday and said that Congress General Secretary told me that he belonged to J&K state, which showed his love and affection for the state and place it enjoyed in his heart.
He said that Congress is the symbol of secularism and torch bearer of unity and integrity of the three regions of the state.
Earlier, Prof Soz and newly appointed President of PYC Shoaib Lone were accorded rousing reception at the PCC headquarters Shaheedi Chowk here today by senior functionaries of the party.
A large number of other senior leaders and youth Congress workers of the party also given a warm welcome to Prof Soz and Shoaib Lone.
Newly elected PYC president arrived here from New Delhi today morning. He and PCC Chief Prof Soz were profusely garlanded by the party leaders and activists of youth congress, NSUI, INTUC and Mahila wing on their arrival at Shaheedi Chowk amidst raising of slogans in favour of Prof Soz and Lone besides Indian National Congress (INC) president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
