JWAM presents a memorandum of demands to Dy. CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Aug 7: A delegation of Jammu West Assembly Movement met Deputy Chief Minster Tara Chand today and submitted to him a memorandum of demands. They apprised him of the problems faced by the people of winter capital Jammu city and particularly the residents of Jammu west assembly constituency. JWAM president Sunil Dimple demanded immediate restoration of water supply as nearly 10 lakh population of Jammu west constituency was badly affected by acute scarcity of water for last 20 days. He demanded allocation of more funds to the PHE Department for the replacement of 20 to 30 years-old pipes overloaded with connections, and construction OHT, tube wells and improvements of water supply. He further demanded that the work on the supply of water to the people of Jammu city from River Chenab at Akhnoor should be started immediately. Also funds for the improvement of poor electrification system prevailing in the Jammu city are released immediately. He said that unscheduled and sudden power cuts in the city for long hours 12 – 18 each day have made life miserable for the people in the constituency. He added that the people are also facing lot of problem in getting necessaries of life like ration and kerosene oil which is supplied at the depots by the CAPD Department. He also demanded that decisions taken in the D D B meetings be implemented without delay... The deputy chief minister Tara Chand gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation of early redressing of their grievances and demands.
