| 15 injured 5 serious in Rajouri mishap | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, Aug 8:In a road mishap, 15 passengers injured including five seriously when an overloaded vehicle turned turtle on Jammu-Poonch highway.
As per sources, a Tata Mobile vehicle having capacity of 7 people had overloaded 27 passengers from Kalakote was on its way towards Rajouri. Due to overloading the driver could not negotiate the turn at Potha Morh and the vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a Nallah. 15 passengers received injuries. 5 seriously injured passengers have been referred to District Hospital.
Eyewitness revealed that the vehicle was overloaded due to which the incident occurred. Following the mishap, locals along with police and army started rescue operation and shifted all the injured to local Hospital but 5 among them were shifted to District Hospital Rajouri for intensive treatment.
Doctors said that though 4 among them are out of danger one critically injured ladt identified as Buwa Devi has been shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu.
Meanwhile, locals said that all the passenger vehicles plying on the road remained jam-packed but traffic police have perhaps closed their eyes. “We have police for controlling traffic but they are not performing their duties resulting in the loss to human lives on the road every day”, a local Abdul Hameed said.
