| Tumultuous welcome to Vikar, Pathania by Youth Congress activists | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 9: On their arrival from Delhi after the reorganization of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) and Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC), General Secretary IYC Vikar Rasool and Senior Vice President PYC R S Pathania were accorded a warm welcome by youth Congress activists.
It was a festive look right from the airport to Pradesh Congress Committee Headquarters at Shaheedi Chowk as both the young leaders were taken to the party headquarters in an open jeep escorted by as many as two hundred vehicles amidst deafening beating of drums, renting of slogans and dancing by the Youth Congress activists.
At Shahidi Chowk the party flag was unfurled by General Secretary IYC and Incharge J&K Amarinder Singh Raja.
Speaking on the occasion, Amarinder Singh recalled the services and sacrifices of the freedom fighters.
He further exhorted upon the party workers to emulate the footsteps of great freedom fighters like Mahatama Gandhi, Pt Nehru and Bhagat Singh.
Vikar Rasool, who also represents Banihal assembly segment, said that it is for the first time that Rahul Gandhi has included four people in his team, and that people of Jammu have been given a vice President with independent charge of Jammu Province.
He took a dig at the fundamentalist elements in Jammu as well as Kashmir Province for fanning the flames of regionalism and fundamentalism. President PYC Shoaib Lone stressed for discipline and duty consciousness in the party. |
