Kamal wins Billiards, in race for double title | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, August 09: After winning the senior billiards title today, Kamal Rohmetra is in race for double title when he meets Kuldeep Sharma in the snooker final tomorrow at 1 pm at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here. In the billiards final, Kamal trounced his junior Sumesh Turki by three frames to two in 100 up best of five game. Kamal, who made a poor beginning losing two opening frames, fought from behind to salvage a much needed win. With his tall experience and maturity, Kamal managed to dodge Sumesh at the crucial stages. To speak about the deciding fifth frame, Kamal was leading by just seven points with score on board being 67-61. But, his well thought moves virtually stopped Sumesh from earning points. In the next three moves initiated by the finalists, Kamal earned 25 points to reach 92 while Sumesh failed to add even a single point. However, finding a chance, Sumesh stretched his break to 22 points to reach a total score of 83 but it was too late to recover and by then Kamal had already attained the goal of touching the 100 up mark. The score: 20-100, 55-100, 100-76, 100-80, 100-83. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played yesterday, Sumesh defeated defending champion, Sohail Khalid while Kamal reach the final getting a walkover Kuldeep Sharma. Meanwhile, in the junior billiards final, held this morning, Miyan Bashir clinched the title outlaying Abhishek Goswami 3-1. The score: 50-22, 5-20, 41-50, 50-24.
