Jail and oppression for nationalists, bouquets and compassion for separatists | ANTI AND PRO-INDIA PROTESTS IN DELHI | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 9: Had anyone ever imagined that the Kashmiri separatists and their cohorts will be allowed by the authorities in New Delhi to hold anti-India demonstrations in the Union capital, Delhi? Had anyone ever imagined that the authorities would allow the Kashmiri separatists and their cohorts and supporters to raise in the Union Capital such slogans as "Go India Go"; "Shame India Shame"; "Hum Kaya Chahte Hain, Azadi"; and "Azadi Ka Matlab Kaya Hai, establishment of Nizam-e-Mustafa"? No. But it has actually happened. The Kashmiri separatists and their cohorts and supporters have actually insulted India and outraged the Indian nation, with the authorities giving them full freedom to abuse, insult, taunt and disgrace the Indian State and the Indian Nation. They abused the Indian State both on Saturday and Sunday at Jantar Mantar. No one had ever imagined that the custodians of the Indian State would forget their obligations or constitutional responsibilities. These highly outrageous and provocative slogans should have alarmed the authorities in the Union Capital. They should have nipped the evil in the bud. They should have booked them under the charge of sedition and proceeded against them accordingly. But, no, it did not happen. They were shown compassion. It must remain a matter of shame for the authorities that they allowed the Kashmiri separatists and rank communalists to tarnish the image of the Indian State and the Indian Nation in the Union Capital itself. Have those at the helm of affairs in the South and North Blocks made up their mind to compromise the Indian position on Jammu and Kashmir, legitimize the Muslim identity politics or the Kashmiri Muslim sub-nationalism and hand over Kashmir to the fanatics, who are responsible for the genocide of the miniscule minority of Kashmiri Hindus and who are now after the Sikhs' blood? It appears so. How else should one describe the freedom the authorities gave to the Kashmiri separatists to hold rabidly anti-India demonstrations in the Union Capital in which the fanatics and rank communalists from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Milia Islamia and other educational institutions also took part? It has been rightly said by someone that the "secularists" in India hail the Kashmiri separatists as secularists and denounce and condemn the nationalists and victims of Kashmiri fundamentalism as communalists. What a shame! Had anyone ever imagined that the authorities in New Delhi will book and arrest the nationalists from Jammu and Kashmir, including Dogras, internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus, Sikhs, and even Muslims, for organizing pro-India demonstration in the Union Capital, Delhi, as also for holding a demonstration there in order to counter and defeat the Kashmiri separatists' evil design and re-repose their faith in the Indian State? Had anyone ever imagined that the authorities in the Union Capital Delhi would humiliate and proceed against the nationalists and treat the Kashmiri separatists and their cohorts with compassion and what not? No. But it has actually happened. The authorities in the Union Capital did book and arrest nearly 30 nationalists from Jammu and Kashmir in order to prevent them from controverting the pernicious anti-India propaganda. They were lodged in the Parliament Street Police Station. The police said the nationalists were arrested to "avoid a clash with separatists." It must remain a matter of shame for the authorities in the Union Capital that they took stern action against the nationalists from Jammu and Kashmir in order to appease the Kashmiri separatists and their cohorts. Instead of booking and arresting the Kashmiri separatists and instead of facilitating the national task of the nationalists from Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities took on and punished the nationalists. What were these nationalists doing and saying? They were simply trying to take on the Kashmiri separatists and their supporters. They were only appealing to the Valley youth not to get instigated or swayed by the Kashmiri "rabble-rousers" like Geelani, the Mirwaiz, the Muftis and so on; they were only saying that "no solution to Kashmir is possible without the involvement of the displaced Kashmiri Hindus, Dogras of Jammu, Buddhists of Ladakh, Shiite Muslims of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, including Kargil, Gujjar Muslims and Sikhs; they were only saying that "we are an inalienable party to the Kashmir issue"; they were simply saying that "the Government of India should identify the criminals who are instigating young people to come to streets; they were only telling the authorities in New Delhi that their "weak-kneed" policies against the Kashmiri separatists have not yielded any positive result and that time has come to take stringent measures against them; and they were only forewarning the authorities in New Delhi that their "lenient and soft attitude towards separatists and terrorists would prove inimical to the national interest in the long run." Was there anything wrong in what the organizers of the nationalist protest wanted to do and say at Jantar Mantar? There was nothing wrong in that. That the authorities unleashed a reign of terror against the nationalists from Jammu and Kashmir clearly indicated that something is cooking up in New Delhi. What the authorities in New Delhi did to the nationalists from Jammu and Kashmir was what the British Government used to do to the nationalists during the Indian freedom struggle days. What is all this non-sense? What are the national parties like the Congress and the BJP doing to protect the nationalists from Jammu and Kashmir against the Kashmiri separatists and communalists? They must rise to the occasion. The sooner they do it the better. They must oppose tooth and nail the policy of jail and oppression for nationalists and bouquets and compassion for separatists. |
