‘Manali road to open for Leh within 24 hrs’

rajouri, Aug 9: As Leh has been disconnected from rest of the world for the last 5 days, Border Road Organisation has claimed to open Manali-Leh road within 24 hours while it will take 5 days to connect Leh with Srinagar.
Talking to reporters here on the sidelight of an inaugural ceremony of a Bridge in Rajouri, Lt. General M.C. Badhani, Director General, Border Roads Organisation said that they are working on both Manali -Leh and Srinagar-Leh routes on war footing and are going to connect the devastated city by road from Manali within 24 hours.
"We are going to open Manali-Leh road till Tuesday evening", Director General said . However added that it will take 5 days to connect Leh to Srinagar in 5 days. "There are various bridges near Zojila area which have collapsed and the road has also been cracked at many places", he said adding "Although we are trying hard to open this road as earlier as possible, it may take 5 days to open it".
Lt. General MC Badhani was here to inaugurate Dubey Bridge in Manjakote area of Rajouri district. He said that he was on four days tour to inspect various projects under SAMPARK in Reasi, Rajouri and Poonch. "This bridge will provide great relief for the people", he told reporters at the site of inauguration. There was a single lane bridge in the area and the locals were demanding double lane because the exiting one was creating major problems for the residents.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Major General Om Parkash, General Officer in Command of 25 Infantry Division Rajouri, Brigadier SK Tiwari, Chief Engineer Project SAMPARK and District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, GA Khawaja.
