After 44 years, another Dogri film to hit Jammu theatre | | | Early Times Report Jammu, August 10: After a long gap of 44 years, another attempt has been mooted by the local artists of Jammu to try a venture into Dogri film making. Entitled as ‘Maa Ni Mildi’, the Dogri feature film that is scheduled to be released on Aug 13 at Apsra theatre has local artists from Jammu, all of whom have rendered their services free of cost to make this venture successful. Addressing a press conference here today, the producer and the lead actor of the film Amit Chaudhary said that he was faced with many hindrances in his way to come up with a feature film in Dogri, but was supported by his team in Jammu because of which it became a success.
He informed that though the film was scheduled to be released one and a half year earlier, but due to many financial constraints, it could not see the light of the day at that time.
He however, reposed full confidence on the people of Jammu and requested them to come to the theatre to watch the film and make it a successful venture.
Mohan Singh, another artist of the film who has made a valuable contribution in the making of the film also shared the dais with Amit Chaudhary and dwelt in length about the Dogri being faced with many hiccups from finding a genre for its recognition here in the state and then imbibing its mother tongue qualities in the generation so that any venture taken up in any form attached with Dogri may find people’s interest into it.
He gave the reference of the present film also not getting any government support or aid from any corner which is being released by the producer himself.
“In other states whenever a art work is created like film making in the regional dialect, the government immediately comes in aid for making it tax-free besides showering many other sops to make it a successful venture,” said Mohan Singh adding that any fight to propagate the mother tongue Dogri here would have to see an agitation for which the present generation should gear up.
Lalit Magotra, president Dogri Sanstha, who joined in late while talking to the media appreciated the initiative of another Dogri film coming up for peoples’ analysis after 44 years. He said that since the language needs to be made people savvy, such efforts would go a long way in promoting the cultural and ethical aura of the Dogri that still has to reach the common man in right perspective.
