State BJP attends PM meet | | | Early Times Report Jammu,August 10: In response to the personal appeal from the Prime Minister through Union Home Minister P. Chidambram, the State BJP has decided to attend the Prime Minister’s All Party Meet on the present grave situation in Kashmir. The party will be represented by State President Shamsher Singh Manhas and leader of Legislators Party Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta. Disclosing this, BJP State General Secretary Satish Sharma said earlier the party had decided not to attend this meet as the invitation was extended to the party by State delegation under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and not by the PM office as was general impression created through media. The BJP could not be part of any delegation which was to be led by Omar Abdullah, he added. In a statement issued here today, the BJP leaders said the party decided to attend the meet only after P. Chidambaram personally rang up the State President Shamsher Singh Manhas and Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta with a request that the meeting with participation of BJP representatives will send a strong message to the hostile forces and otherwise it would turn out to be one-sided. The BJP leaders made it clear to the Union Home Minister that they be treated as separate group and not part of the delegation to be led by Omar Abdullah and the request was accepted.
