| No proper sports facilities in Jammu region | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 10:
THE Maulana Azad Memorial Stadium (MAM), a hub of sports activities in Jammu, is facing a government apathy and sportspersons are suffering badly.
In fact, Mini Stadium Parade and Green fields ground too are in in dilapidated condition and not fit for games or any sport events or for practice.
In these days of Monsoon and almost all the grounds of the winter capital are It is well understood that the sports days are already numbered in the rainy season but even on dry days of the season, no practice can be done in almost all the grounds of Jammu.
At MAM Stadium, wild grass and other weeds has grown in abundance and there is not enough staff to clean the grass for the benefit the students.
Players also stated that in the Mini Stadium Parade, there is not even a proper grass layer on the grounds due to which during the rainy season the grounds become a pool of water. Also the Mini Stadium is closed these days for preparation of Independence Day function to be held there.
When contacted Director Sports Council, S Laharwal for his comments on the issue, he said that work on the cutting of the grass and making the grounds playable has been going on war footing.
