| Kamal makes it a double title win | | State Billiards and Snooker Championships | | Early Times REport
JAMMU, August 10: Giving distinguished performance, Kamal Rohmetra today won the senior snooker final to make it a double title win in the ongoing 20th State Billiards and Snooker Championships at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
It was after a gap of five years that Kamal won both billiards and snooker tiles in a single tournament, a feat which no other cueist has achieved in the last over a decade.
In the snooker final, Kamal defeated Kuldeep Sharma 4-1. Winning the opening close frame, Kamal lost the following 23-68 to find the score leveled at 1-1. However, he soon realized his mistakes and started playing confident shots which yielded results. Kamal clinched consecutive three frames to make it a 4-1 win in best of seven final.
Again, it was after a gap of three years that Kamal has again become the senior snooker champion. The score: 63-50, 23-68, 52-38, 45-37, 66-59.
Meanwhile, according to the organizers, the junior snooker final shall be played tomorrow, followed by the prize distribution function at 4.30 pm.
