Medicines worth Rs 39 lakh given to GMC principal | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, August 10 – To meet the demand of medicines and other drugs of vital importance in Valley, the Minister for Medical Education and Technical Education, R. S. Chib handed over six metric tons of medicines, costing Rs 39 lakh to the Principal, GMC Srinagar, for supply to different government hospitals for treatment of the injured. The medicines were provided by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) J&K local branch. Earlier, a meeting of medical superintendents of Associated Hospitals of Government Medical College, Srinagar was held here, today, under the chairmanship of. Minister for Medical Education and Technical Education, R. S. Chib. Principal, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Dr. Shahida Mir, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Mohammad Amin Wani, Secretary, J&K Red Cross Society, Feroz Ahmad Khan, Health Officer Srinagar Municipal Corporation Dr Riyaz Ahmad and Medical Officer J&K Red Cross Dr Rohini Bhat were present . Reviewing the availability of medicare facilities in City hospitals of Srinagar, Chib directed all the medical superintendents to ensure all possible treatment for the sick especially the injured. Regarding lifting of garbage and bio-medical waste from the major hospitals of Srinagar city, Health Officer of SMC, Dr Riyaz Ahmad apprised the meeting that the Municipal Corporation is doing its best to maintain cleanliness in and around the hospitals by plying the required vehicles and lifting the garbage timely.
