| Nagrota consolidates position in basketball, hockey | | North Zone Inter-Sainik School Sports Festival | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 13: Hosts Sainik School Nagrota continued to win in twin events of basketball and hockey, thereby consolidating position in the league round of the ongoing North Zone Inter-Sainik School Sports Festival at Nagrota, near here today.
Likewise in football, losing the opening tie yesterday, the sub-junior side of Sainik School Nagrota won one of their match played today and held the opponent to a goalless draw in another game. In junior football, Sainik School Kapurthal won both its matches played today.
In volleyball, Sainik School Sujanpur Tira had mixed day with a win and a loss in today’s league round.
BASKETBALL: Sainik School Nagrota beat Sainik School Kunjpura by a margin of 23 points with final score on board being 51-28. In another match of the day, Sainik School Sujanpur Tira trounced Sainik School Kunjpura by four points (53-49) in a close contest.
HOCKEY: Sainik School Nagrota registered 2-1 win over Sainik School Chorakhal. In another match, played today, Sainik School Ghorakhal defeated Sainik School Kapurthala by two goals to one.
FOOTBALL: In sub-junior event, Sainik School Nagrota won the match 3-1 against Sainik School Kunjpura. Sainik School Nagrota, in another match, held Sainik School Ghorakhal to goalless draw to keep the hopes alive of reaching the knock-out stages of semifinals. Meanwhile, in junior football, Sainik School Kapurthal won both the matches. In the first match, Kapurthala defeated Sainik School Ghorakhal 4-0 and later registered a 4-2 win over Sujanpur Tira.
VOLLEYBALL: The first league match of the day was won by Sainik School Sujanpura Tira beating Sainik School Kapurthala in straight sets (3-0). In another league tie, Sainik School Sujanpura lost to Sainik School Kunjpura 0-3.
