Harsh flays Govt for Dental College de-recognition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 13: Working Chairman Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) and MLA Harsh Dev Singh has expressed grave concern over de-recognition of Government Indira Gandhi Dental College, Jammu. In a press statement issued here today, the former minister alleged that culpable negligence and despicable apathy on the part of Medical Education Department in taking timely and appropriate measures for provision of staff and infrastructure in Government Dental College led to its de-recognition. He said de-recognition of the Institute has caused irreparable damage not only to the reputation of the state but also to the careers of hundreds of students studying in the said college. JKNPP leader expressed dismay that the department concerned failed to take action on the repeated warnings issued by the Dental Council of India for the last few years for making up the deficiencies thus providing the most glaring instance of rotten work culture and utter lack of accountability. He said such reckless and unscrupulous attitude on the part of authorities concerned deserved deprecation and condemnation from all quarters. Castigating Medical Education Minister for making tall announcements and loud exhortations, Harsh Dev said he is busy only in organizing photo sessions for media publicity without delivering anything on the ground. He said that Government Medical College Emergency block was inaugurated by the said Minister without providing any staff or the requisite faculty and without the much needed infrastructure to make the same truly functional. He said like-wise the Jammu Medical College was also in shambles with acute shortage of specialised faculty and other specialists besides severe deficiency of para-medical staff as well as modern equipments Harsh Dev Singh further flayed the Minister for his failure to make any of the 18 polytechnic colleges functional in the state despite their sanction and funding having been released by the government of India in January 2009. Strongly flaying such acts of omissions and commissions, Harsh Dev Singh urged upon the Chief Minister to review the working of various Ministers and to ensure that the dead wood are shown the doors at the earliest in the interest of public good.
