PK concerned over PM’s autonomy offer
8/13/2010 9:53:29 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 13: Panun Kashmir (PK) has expressed serious concern over the statement made by the Prime Minister recently regarding grant of autonomy to Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference here today, PK leaders including its President Ashwani and Prof M.L.Raina, Chairman, Political Affairs Committee maintained that the current strife in the valley and the announcements made by the Central government have created a very sensitive situation for Jammu and Kashmir state.
These statements have potential to ignite inferno further in the trouble torn valley of Kashmir and also make things go out of control even in the regions of Jammu and Ladakh.
Majority of the people in Jammu and Kashmir desire complete integration of the state with the Union of India.
Talk of autonomy by the government of India is only an exercise of succumbing to political gimmick and blackmail. It is unacceptable to the people of Jammu, Ladakh and the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community who have always been the victims of discrimination, neglect and apathy due to the policies centric to Kashmir based elite political class.
We would like to emphasize that both autonomy and so-called azaadi have their roots well entrenched in Muslim communalism and are driven by a desire to take Jammu and Kashmir out of the constitutional and territorial ambit of the Indian Union.
The situation of perpetual discontentment in a certain section of people in the Kashmir valley have been nourished by the statements like the ones issued by the government of India over the last one week both in and outside the Parliament. Instead of taking steps to reject all measures aimed at diluting the sovereignty of India in Jammu and Kashmir, the government of India has given rise to political speculation regarding status, unity and integrity of India. The Kashmiri Pandit community rejects all attempts aimed at balkanization of India through dilution of sovereignty of India in the Jammu and Kashmir state.
The geo-political aspirations of the community of Kashmiri Pandits cannot be put to the backburner because of the inability of the government of India to implement its writ in the Kashmir valley.
Panun Kashmir, which is already engaged in the struggle of homeland over the last two decades, has decided to launch an awareness campaign along with all like minded forces in the Jammu and Kashmir state to espouse the cause of the nationalist forces. We make an appeal to the people to come forward, join the campaign and contribute to the cause and reject all attempts to subvert Indian interests in Jammu and Kashmir.
