India, Pak exchange warm hugs, sweet packets at LoC , IB to celebrate I-Day | | | early times report Jammu, Aug 14 : Strained relations between two nuclear neighbors could not deter border guards and senior army officials of both India and Pakistan to greet each other on the occasion of their Independence day celebrations and exchange packets of sweets and warm hugs along the line of control and at the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. On the occasion of Independence day celebrations in Pakistan, the Pakistani army officials first of all arrived at the Chakan Da bagh crossing point in Poonch and exchanged packets of sweets with their Indian counterparts. Col Amit Nautiyal from the Indian side greeted Col Imran of Pakistan army at Chakan-da-bagh at a simple ceremony. Both the officers shook hands and greeted each other warmly. Several other officers of both the armies watched their seniors in lighter mood and soaked themselves in festive environment. The get together lasted for about half an hour after which the gates were closed at the Chakan-da-bagh, crossing point along the line of control. A similar ceremony was organised at Octori post near International border in RS Pura sector of Jammu frontier where Pakistani officer greeted their BSF counterparts and distributed sweets. Together the officers prayed for long lasting peace in the region. The BSF side was represented by the commanding officer of the 135 battalion Vineet Kumar while the Paksitani Rangers were led by Col Zulfikar of Chenab Rangers. Later interacting with the media persons both the officers prayed for peace and said they are maintaining constant vigil on the borders to prevent infiltration.
