Shabir tours border areas, reviews power supply | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 16: The state has a vast potential of Hydro power generation of 20,000 MW and 2-3 power projects are near completion and a few more projects have been taken up under PMRP to improve the power availability in the state. This was stated by Minister of State for Power and CAPD, Shabir Ahmed Khan today while addressing public rallies Bishnah and Arnia area organized to listen the people's problem. During his visit to Bishnah, the people of area putforth the various problems particularly power shortage of the area. They also demanded replacement of old electric wire, irrigation facilities and provide extra connection of electricity and pump set. They also demanded replacement of old poles, 24 hour power supply for Bishnah hospital, upgradation of grid station, improvement in the CAPD system and BPL ration card. Expressing grave concerns over problems being faced by people of Bishnah and Arnia area due to shortage of power and delay in executing work of Grid station in Bishnah, the Minister said that ongoing projects was delayed due to land dispute and now all formalities are completed and the new Grid station will be ready with in one year. He said that an ambitions project of Rs 821 crore has been taken up to improve transmission system under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Viduhtikaran Yojana (RGGVY) in Jammu and Kathua districts and with the execution of this project the power supply situation will certainly improve. Under PMRP, the centre government has extended liberal funding to the state and a number of major project have been taken up for infrastructural development, the Minister said. Minister directed the PDD officers to examine the present power station of Arina and if necessary prepare DPRs for the construction of new grid station to improve power supply situation in the area. Among others Ex-Minister, Gulchain Singh Charak, SEs PDD, Executive Engineer PDD, RTO Jammu, DFO Jammu and senior officers of various departments also present in the meetings |
