Jammu needs to be politically empowered: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Aug 16: Jammu needs to be politically empowered to end the 63-year discrimination as it has more population, more voters' strength and more difficult terrain than Kashmir, still it has just 37 seats while Kashmir has 46 assembly seats, said BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas while addressing party's District level workers' convention here today. Manhas said government should not test the patience of the Jammuites any more and immediately order fair delimitation. He said that all the states of Indian Union has the tricolor as their flag and adopted Indian Constitution but unfortunately J&K has separate flag and separate Constitution, which has only induced the sense of separatism. Demanding due share for Jammu and Ladakh in the recently announced 50,000 jobs by Chief Minister, Manhas said that the number of unemployed youth in Jammu province is more and as such they should be given more share in this employment package. He asked the party workers to reach the masses and eductate them about the pro- chair approach of the Congress at the cost of the national interests. Speaking on the occasion, Leader of BJP Legislature Party Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said that BJP stands for removal of barriers between this state and rest of India, maintaining that the separate status for Jammu and Kashmir has brought more sufferings for the people of the state rather than any good. Both, the Nehruvian Model and Article 370 have failed to yield positive results. He suspected the hand of the ruling leaders, especially those of the NC, to encourage divisive forces and anti-national elements to fish in the troubled water so as to achieve their obnoxious ends of autonomy, which they could not get earlier. BJP National Executive Member Dr Nirmal Singh, in his address, said that we are living in 21st century and those who dream of breaking the country should remember that it is not 1947 when some forces succeeded in divding the country on communal lines. He said India is much strong nation now and a few stone pelters can not change the nationalist approach of lakhs of people in the state. |
