According to sources the members of Gujjar and Bakerwal community in Kashmir who are nationalists by core and have stood with the army and security forces during the past three wars with Pakistan and the proxy war launched by the neighbouring country in 1989-90, are today most perturbed over the present turmoil in Kashmir Valley. The sources said the community is also totally annoyed over the role of the Government in not containing the situation and its wrong policies that further boosted the morale of the secessionist and anti social elements in the Valley. Opposing the Azadi and autonomy the nomadic Gujajrs in the Valley are of the opinion that it will harm their interests totally and they will lose all their rights granted in the Constitution of India inclduing the Sceduled Tribe status. ``Our community is totallay opposed to the Azadi or autonomy and are for the total integration of J&K with rest of the country'', said Sajad Khatana a Gujjar youth from a remote hamlet in Ganderbal. He said ``the Gujajrs and Bakerwals have given lot of sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the nation by taking on the armed infiltrators on LoC since 1947 and as true patriots we will not allow any one to disintegrate the state and country''. India is a great democracy of the world and Gujajrs feel proud of being the citizens of this great nation'', he added. Supporting him Kalu Khan a Gujjar from upper reaches of Anantnag district said that a wrong picture of present movement in Kashmir is being presented as every community in the Valley does not support secessinist movement. ``We have made umpteen pleas to authroites and the Government to take the views and suggestions of Gujjars, Bakerwals, Sikhs and Hindu minorities of the Valley into consideration while making any decision on Kashmir. But no one took cognisance of it'', he added. He said the secessionsits and anti national elements can't take the people of the Valley to ransom as they are doing at present and if such conditions continue the Gujjars and Bakerwals will be left with no alternative but counter the enemies of peace and humanity.Khan said Gujjars and Bakerwals constitute near about 10 lkah population of the Valley and the people living in plains can't dictate terms to them as they are not going to compromise on any thing. He said the destiny of Kashmir has since been decided with India and it was none except the towring leader of Sub Continent Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah who ratified the accession with India so the people have no right to challenge it. Karim Poswal a nomaidc Gujjar from uupper reaches of Badgam while criticisng the secessinist leaders said Gujjars do not accept the hegemoney of the Hurriyat leaders and they have no right to talk on the behalf of the communty. He also criticised the Hurriyat hardliner leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani for his recent outbursts against the community. This is the attitude of the Hurriya leaders who are spilling venom agaisnt our community so how can we trust them, heasked?.
