Rajouri protestors block Jammu-Poonch Highway
Allege step motherly treatment with Pathana Morh residents

Rajouri, Aug 17: Residents of Pathana Morha in Dassal area of Rajouri today blocked Jammu-Poonch Highway at Pathana Morh and disrupted traffic for about three hours. They were demanding construction of road and bridge in the area.
As per details, residents of Pathana Morha of Rajouri thronged the Highway and hold dharna on the road. They burnt tyres on the road to show their anger against the government.
Among the protestors, mostly women participation was seen who accused administration for their apathetic attitude towards addressing the problems of thousands of residents of Pathana Morha area.
Led by Nambardar of the villagers shouted anti-government and anti-PWD slogans and also tendered ultimatum of one month to the government to initiate work on the road and bridge in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Nambardar said that they have been ignored from all fronts in providing basic amenities of life. He said cthat thousands of residents of this village are suffering badly due to non-availability of any motrable road the area. He added that they are also suffering a great loss due to non availability of bridge in the area.
A woman Kanta Devi who was shouting anti-government slogans said that their kids are worst sufferer due to lack of road in the area as they have to reach their school on foot. "We will no more tolerate injustice with us and our children", Kanta Devi said adding that as there is no bridge in the area, they have to walk 15 kilometers to reach destinations. "We have been fed up with this type of life", she added.
As the students of this village have to reach Rajouri to receive classes in the schools, they failed to reach their school during rainy season only because they have to cross a Nallah which remained almost flooded during rainfall. The students of this village who were part of the protest said that they have left their school in May 2010 and for the last more than 3 months, they could not attend classes due to heavy rainfall for the last many weeks. "This is great loss to our studies and we are unable to compete in such an environment", Monika Bharti a student of 11th class said adding that when there is no approach, they are handicapped to reach school.
Meanwhile protestors said that they have been kept with Town area despite the fact that they fall in rural area. "If we are attached with town area, it is unfortunate to say that we have totally been ignored by the administration", a resident Vijay Kumar said.
The residents lifted the protest tendering an ultimatum to government to do the needful for the residents failing which they threatened to launch mass agitation in the area.
