Saroori lays foundation of road projects | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 17: Minister for R&B, G M Saroori has said that Government is committed to ensure equitable development of all the areas of the State, adding that focused attention is being given to unattended areas. Minister was addressing a public gathering at Singpora tunnel point after laying foundation of 3.5 km approach road coming up at a cost of Rs 9.20 crore. Earlier, the Minister laid foundations of 3.5 km Chatroo-Trishi link road costing Rs 4.61 crore, 11.5 km Chatroo-Singwpora road being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.87 crore and 4.8 km Passerkoot-Naidgam costing Rs 4.80 crore. Saroori said that the priority of the Government is to provide basic amenities to the people besides improving the existing infrastructure in rural and hilly areas of the State. He said peace is imperative for development and appealed people to extend their cooperation to the executing agencies in implementing the development plans in hilly and remote areas. Minister said special attention is being given to improve the education, power, health and road. He said Central Government is providing plenty of funds for the development of the State. Referring to the problems of the locals, the Minister directed the concerned authorizes to address all the problems being faced by the people, which include land compensation, repairs of several water supply schemes, posting of teaching staff, besides improving healthcare system. He also directed the CA&PD department to provide 50 kg rice on every ration ticket besides 1 kg sugar per person during current month of Ramadan as per the decision of the Government taken recently in this regard. Appreciating the recent announcement of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah regarding engagement of 50,000 educated youth in the State, Saroori said that it will go a long way in minimizing the unemployment problem to a great extent. Minister also visited Changam and took stock of the development projects coming up in the area. The Minister also visited Govt Girls High School, Chatroo and interacted with the staff and students of the school. On demand of the students for posting of Math and Physics teachers, the Minister asked the concerned Education Officer to ensue early posting of teaching personnel in the school.
