Deal Kashmir situation with firm hand : Joint Forum
8/17/2010 9:37:14 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 17: The Joint Forum of Kashmiri Pandit organisations represented by All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference, Panun Kashmir and Non-Camp Migrant Co-ordination committee held a joint Press Conference today at Jammu.
The fast deteriorating situation in the valley is a cause for serious concern. The inability of the government to deal with the crisis has created an extra ordinary law and order situation. The present situation in the valley of Kashmir needs to be dealt with a firm hand, whereas the state government is persisting with its weak kneed response and is pooh-poohing the secessionist elements.
The so called innocent protesters over which great hue and cry is being raised are not innocent but well directed and funded saboteurs who have held the entire administration of the state to ransom. These saboteurs have used stone pelting as a weapon to blackmail the nation and paralyze the state administration.
The Joint Forum expresses satisfaction on the recent statement of the Prime Minister of UK, David Cameroon on his visit to India that Pakistan needs to stop export of terrorism to India, Afghanistan and the rest of the world. His statement that Pakistan cannot look both ways, ostensibly supporting the NATO forces in Afghanistan but clandestinely backing the Taliban to attack the western forces.
The Wilkeleaks reports about the role of Pakistan agencies in furthering terrorism vindicates the stand of India that Pakistan is a state sponsor of terrorism and needs to take extensive and credible measures to curb it. The Leaks clearly establish that India has been at the receiving end of the Pak-sponsored terror.
The Joint Forum expresses serious concern over the reported attack on Sikh youth in the Kashmir valley. The government must ensure the security of the minorities in the valley and not to leave them on the mercy of the arsonists. We condemn the actions that hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community and deplore such acts in strong words.
