Jammu not prepared for dengue

JAMMU, Aug 17:There are many reports pouring in from different parts of the country about the spread of the dreaded disease Dengue particularly in Northern states where there are enough monsoon rains.
And shockingly Jammu is also not prepared for fighting the disease, when two Dengue suspects have already been already found in Jammu.

This also exposes the beforehand preparedness of the state governments in dealing and containing of the disease.
However, Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), refused to deliver any details of what Health wing of the JMC has done so far to contain the disease.
Giving details of this disease, noted Pediatrician of the winter capital Dr Sanjeev Digra stated that Dengue, a common disease in the monsoons is caused by the byte of female Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes that are infected with a dengue virus. These mosquitoes are born in the places where the rainy and dirty water logging takes place for a long period of time. The symptoms of the dengue are high fever, severe headache, nausea, vomiting, eye pain etc.
He further said that there are many regions in the state where the people are still unaware of the facts that how these diseases spread and the measures to prevent them.
Malariologist of the state, Dr Ashok Sharma said that the department is doing its best to contain the chances of spread of the Dengue. He further added that they had introduced a drug BTI to cure dengue and had a fish name Gambusia which helps to prevent the virus to originate.
He further said that visitors like tourists and pilgrims could be possible carriers of the viral communication diseases.
He informed that this mosquito breed in fresh and stranded water mostly in water coolers, in roof tops, and in abandoned tyres.
But he also said that the much work is needed to be done in this regard to aware the people.
It is pertinent to mention here that not only Dengue but chances of spread of other diseases like Typhoid, Malaria area also there.
Ramesh Lal a resident of Bhagwati Nagar area of Jammu said that earlier the JMC used to aware the masses about precautions and symptoms of the various diseases besides spraying chemicals and smoke in the city to contain the breeding of mosquitoes. But this year nothing of this sort has been done in this regard.
