Div Com reviews pace of progress on JNNRUM projects

JAMMU, Aug 17: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, has called for expediting restoration of the roads, lanes and by lanes in old Jammu city areas dug up for lying sewerage lines.
The Divisional Commissioner who is also chairman of the Coordination Committee for the implementation of various Jawaharlal Nehru National Renewal Urban Mission (JNNRUM) schemes, was speaking at the committee meeting here today convened to review the pace of progress on the lying of sewerage lines in the old city localities.
Threadbare discussions were held with regard to the problems being faced by the executing agencies in the completion of the work.
Calling for maintaining close coordination, the Divisional Commissioner said that all the departments whose Paraphernalia and wherewithal is involved should work in close tandem to avoid delay in the completion of the works. He said that the work has already suffered due to incessant rains and any further delay could lead to public outcry. He asked the officers to visit the localities where digging has been completed and sort out the problems which are hampering the work.
He called for gearing up men and machinery for early completion of the works to avoid prolonged inconvenience to the people.
Responding to the points raised by the concerned authorities, Dr Kotwal asked the officers to prepare estimates of the pending works and submit the same for funding. He set August 23 as deadline for submission of the estimates.
Giving suggestions for expediting the restoration work, Member Legislative Assembly Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta called for maintaining close coordination between NBCC, ERA, JMC, R&B and other agencies involved in the implementation of the flagship urban development project . He said that all works of the lanes should be done by the Jammu Municipality.
DIG Traffic Dr Kamal Saini, Commissioner JMC S C Sawhney, Special Secretary/CEO SUIDA, Javed Khan, Director WLB P C Bhagat, AGM NBCC, Anil Malla, Chief Engineer UEED, N H Khan, Chief Engineer PHE Dalip Bakshi and other senior officers of PDD, PWD, BSNL, ERA and UEED were present in the meeting.
