Soz says early restoration of telecom services must in Leh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 17: Prof. Saifuddin Soz, MP (former Union Minister) and President, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has sought visit of senior level officer of the Ministry of telecommunication to flood ravaged Leh so that snapped telecommunication services could be restored at the earliest. "One aspect of Prime Minister's visit to Leh, today, was that the people of Leh thanked the PM for the government's speedy response to the tragedy that had occured on August 6, 2010. Even in their hardship they did appreciate the gesture of the Hon'ble PM to have visited Leh and announced a package of relief. Soz said he reminded PM that in spite of the fact that he had made a statement in the Rajya Sabha recently and urged the Ministry of Telecommunication to restore the BSNL services in Leh immediately and send a senior level officer of the Telcom Ministry to Leh for, at least, three months, the Ministry had not done anything. The result has been that Telecommunication services were in a shambles in Leh and this was great hindrance in organizing relief in Leh, he lamented. "Prime Minister assured me that he would ask the Ministry of Telecommunications to ensure that needful would be done early. I hope a senior level officer of the Ministry of Telecommunication will land in Leh early". |
