| Court acquits 11 accused | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Aug 18: 2nd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Vinod Chateerji Koul today acquitted 11 persons allegedly involved in October 30, 2005 Tassel between civilians and J&K Armed Police personnel over a telephone call on STD booth and Krishanpur Manwal in which one police cop Bashir Ahmed was seriously injured and died in the GMC Jammu. A case u/s 302/304-II/341/353/323 RPC was registered and after completion of investigation challan was present against Romail Singh, Naresh Sharma, Mulkh Raj Gupta, Santokh Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Arjun Singh, Pawan Singh, Jasvinder Singh, Krishan Lal, Sham Singh and Girdhari Lal all residents of Krishanpur.
The court after hearing both the sides observed that prosecution witnesses who have identified the accused but when their statements were recorded in Court, they said they did not know the accused. Thus from these statements, the so called identification parade and identification of suspects is not established and therefore prosecution has failed to prove the charges against accused persons beyond any doubt as such challan is dismissed and accused are acquitted.
