| DIG opens ‘Ecological Awareness Billiards/Snookers Tournament’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Aug 18: Farooq Khan DIG Jammu-Kathua Range declared open the ‘Ecological Awareness Billiards/Snookers Tournament ‘here today at International Pool Club Vegas and The Gym.
The tournament was organized by J&K Rural Sports Club (Regd) NGO in collaboration with International Pool Vegas and The Gym, Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu, Social Forestry Division Jammu and it is meant for promotion of conservation and preservation of Environment.
During the tournament, the matches will be played in Billiards, Snookers and 9 ball games categories on knock out bases. However, the opening match was played in Snooker category between Hemanshu and Kamal Kishore in which Hemanshu bagged the opening match by 3-1 frames.
Earlier, a function was organized wherein more than 100 plants were distributed amongst the participants and players for plantation to imbibe the spirit of preservation and conservation of the environment by Atif Mohd Chowdhary, Zonal Director Nehru Yuva Kendre, Jammu, Pritam Singh, DFO Social Forestry Division Jammu, Narinder Singh, president Shakti Dutta and Rajesh Dutta.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range Farooq Khan hailed the efforts of the organizers for organizing the tournament with a message to preserve and conserve the environment. He expressed hope that the same tournament would be organized in future also such efforts amidst sporting spirit will certainly give message to others.
Prominent citizens and snooker lovers were also present and appreciated the efforts of the organizer for this noble cause.
