Army organizes Iftar party | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Aug 18: In keeping with its pursuit of maintaining peace and tranquility in the area of responsibility, Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) launched yet another People’s friendly initiative to join the Awaam in celebrating the joys of sharing and caring during the holy month of Ramadan. The General Officer Commanding during the joint security meeting held at the headquarters on recently wherein the senior functionaries of Civil Administration and Police of the two border districts of Poonch and Rajouri alongwith representatives of various intelligence agencies were present, had announced this noble and unique initiative of organising Iftar celebrations for the local population at every company Operating Base, Battalion and Sector Headquarters locations of the Force. As part of the series of celebrations, an Iftar Party was organised near army post ‘Army Check’ for civilians belonging to Salotri and Jhallas villages. 80 villagers including Sarpanch and Maulvi attended the celebration which included eats and dinner. Both Hindus and Muslims attended the celebration, enjoyed the hospitality of the Army and presented a picture of friendship, bonhomie and brotherhood. Local populace was moved by this caring initiative of the Army in the true traditions of the ‘Army for the People, of the People, By the People’. They thanked the Army and promised to work together for ensuring lasting peace, stability and development in the area.
