| Defiant youth assault female cop | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 18: In a bizarre incident, three motorcycle borne youth assaulted a lady Traffic police Inspector at busy Library Chowk, Kachi Chawni here this evening resulting into injuries to the police official.
"As Inspector Anita Chopra was busy with her routine of checking vehicles at Kachi Chawni, three youths riding on a Pulsar motorbike bearing registration number JK02 AM-7566 approached the Library Chowk, she signaled them to stop." police sources said.
However, instead of applying the brake, the defiant youth who was riding the bike zip-zapped and tried to sped away from the spot.
On seeing that the offenders are attempting to fled, the alert officer chased them and in the process one of the youths kicked her, sources added.
"The force of kick was so intense that Inspector Chopra fell down on the road. When the miscreants saw the officer falling down, they ran the bike over her leg resulting in grievous injuries to the Traffic cop." sources said adding that Anita Chopra has sustained a fracture in her leg.
The other traffic cops, who were on duty there, made a vain attempt to catch the escaping youth however they noted down the registration number of the motorbike which come handy to trace out the erring youth.
Police have registered a case in this regard and launched a hunt to nab the culprits. |
