J&K bureaucrat's relative booked for fraud, vehicle seized

Jammu, Aug 18: A close relative of top Jammu and Kashmir bureaucrat was today booked for fraud as police recovered a vehicle from a hotel owner here today.
"A case against FIR number 114/2008 was lodged against one Fayaz Ahmed Ganai, son of Mohammad Sayeed Ganai, resident of Mohalla Dalpatian, who was a defaulter and had fraudulently handed over the vehicle to a hotel owner,'' said police sources.
Police said Fayaz, who is a close relative of a top bureaucrat in Jammu and Kashmir government, had forged the loan documents of Mahindra and Mahindra Finance Company and handed over the vehicle to a hotelier belonging to a reputed business group of city.
"The vehicle was missing since 2008 and this morning, it was intercepted at a check point at Bikram Chowk when driven by an owner of a top hotel in the city,'' police said.
The case was already registered under sections 420, 468, 471, 467 of RPC at Nehru market police post while the vehicle was seized on the spot and a manhunt is in progress to apprehend the accused.
