GOC Cross Swords division Lauds laurels of Tanda Tiger Force | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Aug 19: Maj Gen Rakesh Sharma, GOC of the Cross Swords Division has hailed the contributions of ‘Tanda Tiger Force’ and its founder K P Singh in a special meeting held in the Div Headquarters today. The special event was organized to commemorate the conferment of Commendation Card upon Th. K P Singh by Lt Gen B S Jaswal, PVSM, AVSM*, VSM, GOC-in-C Northern Command on the eve of 64th Independence Day for his distinguished services to the nation at the time of Kargil counter offensive in June 1999 by arranging to provide 3000 porters to the army. In a rare gesture of magnanimity and good will, General Sharma showered praises on Dogra volunteers for offering their help to the army enthusiastically at the difficult time of national emergency. He assured K P Singh that sacrifices and help of Tanda Tigers will be remembered every year at Tanda Cantt during the celebrations of Kargil Vijay Divas. He also congratulated other volunteers for getting formal recognition from the Army Commander. He also praised them for adding a chapter of patriotism in the Dogras History. K P Singh thanked GOC on behalf of porters of Tanda Tiger Force for his kindness in formally appreciating selfless services of Dogras in Op Vijay and assured him of their all times readiness in the service of the army and the nation. “This kind gesture stands proof to the dictum of Gen Jaswal that our Army is by the people, of the people and for the people”, said K P Singh.
