Nose tighten on Rajouri shopkeepers
CAPD Impose Rs 10,000 fine for adulteration, MC destroy 100 litre milk

Rajouri, Aug 19: In its endeavor to ensure supply of fresh essential commodities to the local in the holy month of Ramadhan, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department Rajouri has launched a campaign to check adulteration and sale of outdated commodities. Fine amounting Rs 10,000 has also been imposed on atleast 2 dozen shopkeepers who were found guilty in this regard.
As per reports, CAPD department squad led by Assistant Director Kewal Krishen today checked atleast 295 shops in Jawahar Nagar locality whereas more than 100 shops were checked on Wednesday in Gujjar Mandi and city areas. Atleast Rs 6500 fine was recovered today while Rs 3500 was imposed on the shopkeeper yesterday.
Meanwhile Sanitary Inspector of Municipal Committee Rajouri destroyed 100 litre of milk in Rajouri which was being supplied by various people. According to MC, the milk was adulterated with water and has been destroyed. Municipal Committee has decided to continue the raids on the milk sellers in Rajouri so that to check adulteration of milk.
Kewal Krishen, AD CAPD department Rajouri said that he is striving hard for the last many days to streamline the supply of essential commodities. “We will not allow anybody adultery in the essential commodities and those found involved ill be dealt with iron hands”, he said adding that the campaign will continue till all the shopkeepers will be checked.
Making an appeal to the shopkeepers to avoid adulteration and stocking of outdated material, Kewal said that the initiative of checking has been taken in the interest of the people and all should cooperate with them. “We donot want to harass somebody but if shopkeepers and vegetable sellers and meat sellers will cooperate and streamline their supply and rates, they will not be taken to task”, he added.
Tehsildar Rajouri and Station House Officer Rajouri was accompanying the CAPD department squads in the market.
