Chhari Mubarak leaves for Amarnath cave shrine | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Aug 19: The Chhari Mubarak, the silver mace of Lord Shiva, today left for Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas where the last puja will be held on August 24, the 'Shravan Purnima' day, culminating the two-month-long annual pilgrimage, started on July 1. 'Bam Bam Bhole' rented in the air when the custodian of the silver mace Mahant Deepender Giri came out from the Dashnami Akhara temple, which houses the Chhari Mubarak, near here today. Mahanat Giri led the devotees to offer puja in the temple before leaving for the cave shrine this morning. Accompanied by a large number of devotees, including sadhus, he expressed satisfaction over the peaceful and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage and said without the active cooperation of devotees, the pilgrimage would not have been successful. ''We will pray at the Amarnath cave shrine for return of peace in the state, particularly in the Kashmir valley,'' Mahant Giri said, adding there was not a single incident when any devotee was harmed during the pilgrimage. He said the people of Kashmir had always extended their support to the pilgrims and this year too was not different. Mahant Giri said puja was conducted on different occasions at Shankeracharya and Hariparbat temples.
