Concede employees’ demands or face agitation: PHEWWA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 19: PHE Workers Welfare Association (WWA) Jammu Province has taken a serious notice of the failure of state government particularly the Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control in conceding the demands of the employees. In a meeting of the association held here today, Provincial General Secretary Subash Chander warned the state government that if the demands of the employees are not conceded shortly, the employees would be forced to adopt the agitation path for which authority concerned will be held responsible for the consequences. The members rued that demands of the PHE employees which were agreed on several occasions with the leadership of the PHE Employees United Front have yet not fulfilled. Subash said that there is lot of resentment among the employees against PHE authority who is not attending the problems of the workers which are being faced by them during duty hours. He further said that due to the shortage of the ministerial staff the service matters of the employees are not being redressed in due course of time The demands of PHE employees include release of one and a half days ex-gratia pay, all sorts of workers be given wages at the rate Rs 110 per day instead of meager wages of Rs 500 and Rs 980 per month and the transfers of the employees be made section to section instead of Sub-Division level. The association has alleged that the technical employees of the departments are being ignored by the PHE Department at every level. The employees have no promotion avenues because the higher level posts have not been created by the government since 1989.
