| Two held with 720 kg poppy straw | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 19: Two persons were arrested at Nagri Toll Post today while they were trying to smuggle 720 kilograms of poppy straw in a truck to Punjab. They were identified as Harpal Singh and Yashpal Singh of Moga, Punjab.
Official sources said excise department guards recovered 720 kg poppy straw from a truck during its checking at the Nagri toll post. The truck, which had come from Srinagar, was on its way to Punjab, the sources added.
Soon after the recovery of the contraband, the truck was seized and Harpal and Yashpal were taken into custody. Nearly 10 kg poppy straw was yesterday recovered by police from a man at Jhajjar Kotli. |
