Jammu to face Kathua in U-19 cricket semis

JAMMU, Aug 21: Jammu district shall be playing against Kathua in the semi-finals of the ongoing inter-district divisional level under-19 cricket tournament, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, in the quarterfinals, played today, Jammu defeated district Reasi by 48 runs while Kathua outplayed district Udhampur by 11 runs.
In the first quarterfinal, played this morning, Jammu won the toss and decided to bat first made 138 runs in the allotted 20 overs, which, in reply, Reasi could not chase and bowled out for 90 runs in 17.3 overs. Manik was top scorer with 28 runs, followed by Amritpal Singh, who contributed 21 runs. From Reasi, Sachin claimed two wickets and Rahil one.
Batting second, Reasi bowled out for 90 runs in 17.3 overs. Pardeep Singh was highest run getter with 24 runs. Samay Jain was most successful bowler from Jammu with two wickets. Shiva Sharma, Shubam and Ravi Singh shared apiece each.
In the second quarterfinal, Kathua trounced Udhampur by 11 runs. Batting first, Kathua set a target of 86 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Rizwan and Sunil Kumar contributed 19 and 17 runs respectively. From Udhampur, Sandeep clinched three wickets, while Imran and Rohit shared two each.
In reply Udhampur could not chase and exhausted the allotted quota of 20 overs for 74 runs losing eight wickets. Ashish was main scorer with 12 runs in his account and Rohit Pal added nine. Sunil and Harsh Jain took two wickets each.
In another quarterfinal of the day, Kishtwar clinched a close six runs win against district Poonch. Earlier, after winning the toss and decided to bat first, Kishtwar set a target of 140 runs, which Poonch could not chase despite a magnificent 67 runs innings played by Zaffar.
Shaqir was top scorer with 40 runs, followed by Saddam, who contributed 21. Zaffar clinched two wickets for 33 runs, followed by Aquib, Nasir and Arif, who took one each.
Batting second, Poonch, though played nicely, yet could not control their nerves in the later stages of the game and lost all their wickets six runs short of the opponent total in 18 overs. Zafar remained top scorer with 67 runs while Navjot Singh added 21. From Kishtwar, Sahil and Imran took two wickets each.
Now, in the fourth quarterfinal, distict Doda shall take on district Samba tomorrow, followed by the semi-finals.
