Jammu to face Doda in U-19 cricket final | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, August 22: District Jammu shall take on Doda in the title clash of the ongoing inter-district divisional level boys’under-19 football tournament, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), here tomorrow. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Jammu trounced Kathua by four wickets. Batting first, Kathua set a target of 81 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs, which Jammu chased in the second last delivery of the final 20th over with four wickets in hand. Romy Kumar was top scorer with 28 runs while Mohit Singh contributed 13 and Manvinder made nine runs. From Jammu, Somesh Jain and Farooq were most successful bowlers with two wickets each while Parth and Shuvam Gupta shared apiece each. Batting second, Jammu reached the required total in 19.5 overs for the loss of six wickets. Paras Sharma was top scorer with 34 runs while Gurdeep Singh added valuable 28. Dalip and Romy claimed two and one wicket respectively. In other semi-final, Doda defeated district Kishtwar by a narrow margin of four runs. Batting first, Doda set a target of 114 runs for nine in 20 overs. Azim was top scorer with 31 runs, followed by Fazal Tak, who contributed 17. From Kishtwar, Saddam and Khalil took two wickets each. Later, Kishtwar could not chase the total and when whole side bundled out for 109 runs in 20 overs. Aman fought lone battle contributing unbeaten 36 runs. Fazal Tak clinched three wickets from Doda for 21 runs. Rayees and Sahil shared two wickets each. Earlier, in the fourth quarterfinal, district Doda beat Samba by six wickets to make it into the semi-finals this morning.
