JAMMU, AUGUST 22- Assuring all help to the people affected by floods triggered by torrential rains The Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today said that the repair of damaged protection bunds along flood prone areas has been taken up on war footing.
He was interacting with the members of various deputations including those from flood affected areas who called on him to apprise about the problems being faced by them.
The deputations who call on deputy chief minister hailed from Pargwal, Jogwan, Bardoh, Hamirpur, Udhaywala and Lalle-da-Bagh.
He said that the government was abreast with the problems of the people who suffered in wake of heavy rains this summer. He said that concrete steps, both short term and long term, are being taken to ensure protection of life and property of the people against the floods in vulnerable areas.
Responding to the problems projected by the members of the deputations, Deputy Chief Minister said that the huge damage was caused to the infrastructure across the state and the government was making every effort to restore services like, power, water, besides road communication disrupted due to rains and floods.
He also issued on the spot orders to the concerned departments to solve the problems of their respective areas raised by the deputation members, which include restoration of power supply, stocking of sufficient food grains.
