Balwant castigates Health Minister for false promises | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, Aug 22: Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) alleged that government has failed to provide basic facilities to common masses of the state in general and Udhampur in particular. Addressing media persons here today, JKNPP president and MLA Udhampur Balwant Singh Mankotia said that Health department under the present Minister has totally crumbled and failed to perform up to the expectations of the people. He said that in the month of March 2008, an amount of Rs 1.17 crore was kept for the purchase and installation of CT scan machine at district hospital Udhampur but even after repeated assurances of Minister concerned on the floor of house the department failed to procure that machine. He said that by making wrong commitment in the assembly minister has not only misled the people of the state but also committed breach of privilege for which he will write to the Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly for initiating appropriate action against the Health Minister. He said that project (estimated cost 9.65 crore ) for the up-gradation of district hospital to the level of trauma level-II got concurrence of finance deptt of Government of India in the month of December 2008 for which first installment of Rs 80 lakhs released in early 2009 but after passing more than 20 months the health department failed to utilize even single panny. Mankotia added that for construction of new Fruit and Sabzi Mandi at Udhampur Rs 3 crore were sanctioned and released in March 2008 but even after spending huge amount till date Horticulture department could not provide the basic facilities for it due to which Sabazi Mandi could not be shifted even after many assurances in the district development board meetings and by the Minister concerned.
