Inter State bus terminus to remain at present site: Dy CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 22: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has assured the shopkeepers of bus stand and other trade bodies of Jammu city that the bus terminus will continue to remain at the present site and will not be shifted from there. Tara Chand who is also Minister Incharge Housing and Urban Development said, “Only the idle buses, which do not have the turn to go out will be parked in the yards being constructed at three different places outside Jammu city”. A deputation of representatives of shopkeepers of general bus stand, Jammu, All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association, Jammu Prayatan Vikas Mandal, Below Gummat and Upper Gummat Traders Associations, Hari Market Traders Association had called on the Deputy Chief Minister who accompanied by the Minister of Roads and Building G M Saroori and Vice Chairman JDA had visited the general bus stand Jammu conveyed their apprehension to Tara Chand and Saroori that moves are afoot by some bureaucrats and politicians with vested interests to shift the bus stand from the present site and diversify the same at different places outside the city. The ministers sought to remove any such misgivings and assured that interstate bus terminus will also continue at the present site. The buses of all routes will continue to pick up and drop passengers in the present bus stand only. They also assured the deputation that work on up-gradation and modification of general bus stand will be taken up soon. It will be converted into multi-stroyed with space for parking of small vehicles at first floor, shopping complex at the other and run way for the buses at the ground floor. The deputation which was led by Inderjeet Khajuria, included among others, Pawan Gupta, Mangal Verma, Ashok Gupta, Rakesh Abrol , Surinder Rally and others. Earlier Action Committee, General Bus Stand Jammu which was constituted few years ago to resist moves of shifting the bus stand from the present location and was lying dormant after the move to shift the bus stand was dropped, was revived in a meeting of the representatives of various trade organizations of Jammu city. |
