Pensioners hold rally, raise demands | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 22: The Pensioners have organized a rally to raise their concern over delay tactics of the State Government in conceding their long pending demands. The rally held under the leadership of Convener Mukand Lal Sharma. They demanded release of arrears of 6th pay commission with effect from Jan 1, 2006, DA installments in full, Medical allowance and others. ‘The State Government and the Central Government has given three time benefits to the legislators and Member Parliaments respectively but ignoring the common masses’, they alleged, adding, ‘Its unfortunate that the Central Government has given the benefit to its pensioners at the age of 80,85,95,100 and above but the State Government has not extended the same to its State pensioners’. The Pensioners said that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has declared in the month of April that the road map has been finalized and shall be implemented shortly w.e.f. August 2010. They appealed the Government to implement the road map as assured by CM and warned the release of all pending arrears is delayed further, they will resort to protest.
